Congratulations to the University of Cincinnati Clermont College (UC Clermont) for achieving Exemplary Program Status! This special status is awarded to institutions who go above and beyond in their quality assurance efforts by earning QM Program Certifications in all four key areas — Online Program Design, Online Teaching Support, Online Learner Support, and Online Learner Success — in a period of three years.
"Achieving the QM Exemplary Program certification is an honor for the University of Cincinnati Clermont College and serves as a major milestone in our commitment to online course quality. The implementation of quality assurance practices has had an impact on our learners that we look forward to sustaining and improving upon as we move forward."
— Karen Lankisch, Professor & Program Director, University of Cincinnati Clermont College

Fact: Quality courses consider and address the needs of all learners. So how do you ensure accessibility in your course design and delivery efforts? In the new Guide to Digital Accessibility (co-published by Quality Matters and Stylus Publishing) Drs. Rae Mancilla and Barbara A. Frey have compiled a number of firsthand accounts from educators working toward this goal.
“I predict that this book will become part of the standard toolkit of every new and experienced college teacher who cares about equity, access and accessibility in their physical and digital classrooms.”
— Joshua Kim, Director of Online Programs and Strategy, Dartmouth Center for the Advancement of Learning
The paperback edition is now available (e-book to be released this May), and QM members are eligible to receive a 20% discount off list price. Email research@qualitymatters.org to obtain your discount code for the paperback or e-book. Shipping on the paperback edition is free.

Do your assessments measure your learning objectives? Last month, we shared how to check for measurable learning objectives. Now it’s time to see if they align with and are effectively measured by your assessments.
Read through each learning objective, then check the corresponding assessment(s) to determine if the latter measures the former. For example, if your learning objective states that by the end of the course learners will be able to “explain the process of photosynthesis,” two examples of assessments that would measure learner achievement of this include creating a diagram or visual of the process of photosynthesis, or describing in writing what happens during photosynthesis.
